What are Chakras?
The word Chakra means wheel or disk in Sanskrit. These wheels or disks represent energy centers in the body. They correspond to certain organs & nerves within the body.
Chakras need to be open for us to live healthy lives. If a chakra gets blocked for any reason, you may experience emotional or physical problems related to a particular Chakra.
Where do Chakras come from?
Chakras originated in India between 1500 & 500 BC & may have existed even earlier than this.
What does the word Chakra mean?
The word Chakra comes from the Hindu tradition and is a Sanskrit term for ‘Wheel’ or ‘Mystical Circle’
How many Chakras are there?
There are many Chakras but the seven main chakras run along your spine. They start at the root of your spine and extend to the crown of your head. The following are the seven main Chakras…

What is the meaning of each Chakra?
Root Chakra (Color Red).
The Root chakra is located at the base of your spine. It is the chakra that helps you feel grounded and enables you to deal with challenges.
Opened Root Chakra
When the Root Chakra is fully opened, the individual becomes physically aware. The individual will feel balanced, secure & stable. You live in the here & now & will feel grounded.
Closed Root Chakra
If the Root Chakra is not fully open or closed, the individual will be nervous & fearful in many situations.
Sacral Chakra (Color Orange).
When the Sacral chakra is opened the individual can relate to his or her emotions & can also relate to the emotions of others. It is also responsible for sexual and creative energy.
Opened Sacral Chakra
If the Sacral Chakra is open then the individual will feel liberated & will be in control of their emotions. They will also be outgoing and will be passionate about everything they have an interest in.
Closed Sacral Chakra
If the Sacral Chakra is not fully open or closed then the individual will be unemotional. They will not be very open to other people.
Solar Plexus Chakra (Color Yellow)
The Solar Plexus chakra is responsible for the individual being in control of their life. It’s the Chakra responsible for self-esteem & confidence.
Opened Plexus Chakra
When the Plexus Chakra is open the individual will feel they are in control & will feel good about themselves.
Closed Plexus Chakra
When this Chakra is not fully open or closed the individual will be indecisive about things in life & will usually become very passive which can make the individual very apprehensive.
Heart Chakra (Color Green).
The Heart Chakra enables the individual to show & feel love & compassion for others.
Open Heart Chakra
When the Heart Chakra is open the individual will come across as friendly & will show compassion to others.
Closed Heart Chakra
When the Heart Chakra is only partially open or closed the individual will come across as being cold & insensitive & not very friendly.
Throat Chakra (Color Blue).
The Throat Chakra enables the individual to express themselves & communicate verbally.
Open Throat Chakra
When the Throat Chakra is open individuals can express themselves easily.
Closed Throat Chakra
When the Throat Chakra is only partially open or closed then the individual will be quiet & will often come across as being shy.
Third Eye Chakra (Color Indigo).
The Third Eye Chakra enables the individual to follow their gut instinct. It is also linked to having a good imagination & great intuition.
Open Third Eye Chakra
When the Third Eye Chakra is open the individual tends to be clairvoyant to an extent.
Closed Third Eye Chakra
When the Third Eye Chakra is only partially open or closed then the individual tends to rely on other people a lot. They will also tend to be confused in many situations.
Crown Chakra (Color Purple).
The Crown Chakra enables the individual to follow their Life’s purpose & to know their spiritual connection to themselves & the universe.
Open Crown Chakra
When the Crown Chakra is open the individual will feel connected to the world & themselves. The individual will have no prejudice against others.
Closed Crown Chakra
When the Crown Chakra is only partially open or closed the individual will find it hard to change their thought pattern & will not be very spiritual.
How do I open my Chakras?
There are many ways to open your Chakras but the most common are deep meditation or Yoga practices which will unblock closed Chakras. However, many of us will not have the time or patience to do this & this is why they choose the Affirmations route for faster results.
